3D-GREC
3D-GREC stands for 3-Dimensional Geometry REConstruction. It is a productivity tool that largely automates the digitization of existing 2-Dimensional drawings and allows for their quick conversion into 3D geometry.
Our mission is to help users save time and effort by offering a comprehensive suite of tools for the semi-automatic conversion of 2-Dimensional drawings into 3-Dimensional design. Some of the main features offered are:
• A workbench for 2-Dimensional input digitization. The user can import 2D drawings in image format, pre-process them with the use of an array of available filters to enhance their quality and finally run the automatic digitization algorithms. User intervention capabilities for possible corrections and further editing is also available.
• A 2-Dimensional design environment commonly referred to as the sketcher. Rework on imported and then digitized geometries can be performed here. Original, non-scanned geometry can also be created at will.
• A 3-Dimensional interactive design environment in which the user can convert the 2D into 3D geometry, be it surface geometry or solids. Bezier, B-Spline and NURBS curves and surfaces can be created and a lot of the classic CAD functionality is available.
• Interoperability with other CAD/CAE software. Beyond native 3D-GREC format, open i.e., non-proprietary CAD data exchange format, such as STEP is offered. Additional inputs like point clouds can also be imported and handled.
